The 29 Palms Artist Guild
The Art Gallery is located next door to the 29 Palms Inn
In October of 1951, seven distinguished local artists met to form the 29 Palms Artist Guild. From this small group of charter members has evolved the present guild of more than 300 members and the distinctive adobe art gallery. The late John Hilton's desert paintings rank internationally among the world's finest, and the Guild is proud to honor him as the founding father and the first president. The Guild was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization to "create a spirit of cooperation and fellowship between the artist and the public."
Under the leadership of eleven elected Board of Director Members, the Gallery serves as a showcase for artists, both local and from other communities, including out-of-state.
It is open all year round, but opening times vary according to season.
In addition to art exhibitions, the gallery is used for workshops, seminars, parties, meetings and various fund raising events. As always, the main purpose is to carry out the goals as stated by the original seven charter members.
